In 2019, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The IAU is organizing activities around the world with the central them "Under One Sky". Space Research and Technology Institute will take part of these celebrations with the event "To the Moon, Sun and the Distant Space", which will be held on April 19, 2019. There will be presented some popular lectures and the visitors would see the Historical exhibition of the Bulgarian space instrumentation. For details see here. A Summer School under the Project Education in Earth Observation for Bulgarian Secondary Schools (EEOBSS) will be organized during the period 8–12 September 2017 at the 7th Kuzman Shapkarev Secondary Comprehensive School in Blagoevgrad. Students from grade 10 to 12 from the whole country will be educated how to apply modern geoinformation technologies to analyze and assess satellite images of the Earth.

9th Workshop "Solar Influences on the Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and Atmosphere"

From 30 May till 3rd June 2017 in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, will be held the 9th edition of the international workshop on "Solar Influences on the Magnetosphere, Ionosphere and Atmosphere". The workshop is organized by the Space Research and Technology Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Over 70 scientists from 11 countries have confirmed their attendance at the 9th workshop with 43 oral and 31 poster presentations distributed over 6 science topics:
